It is thought that Swedish bitters was originally formulated by Paracelsus (a physician, botanist and known for his contributions to medicine)

Then in the 1700's it was rediscovered by Swedish doctors Dr. Urban Hjärne & Dr. Claus Samst. And now it has been highlighted by the Austrian herbalist Maria Treben and her book "Health Through God's Pharmacy"
