What is Vitamin A?

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin. Unlike water soluble vitamins that need to be taken daily, fat soluble vitamins are stored in the liver, previously absorbed from dietary fats in the intestine, and do not need to be consumed daily. Vitamin A is also known as retinol because it produces the pigments in the retina of the eye.

What does Vitamin A do?

Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes, the normal function of the immune system and has a role in the process of cell specialisation (a process that occurs after cell division where the newly formed cells are structurally modified so that they can perform their function efficiently and effectively).
It also contributes to the maintenance of normal vision and to the metabolism of iron.

Health Leads formula

Each plant source vegetarian capsule contains:
25,000iu Vitamin A (as Retinol acetate)
Organic rice flour
Other ingredients: None

Vitamin A units of measure (iu and µg)
Vitamin A is commonly measured in International Units (abbreviated to iu) which is a measurement of its biological activity. UK law requires us to state the measurement unit as micrograms (µg) of Retinol. One International Unit (iu) is equal to 0.3µg of Retinol. So 25,000 iu = 7,500 µg RE (Retinol Equivalents).

Health Leads Commitment to You

We will never use known harmful additives, hydrogenated oil, trans fats, colourants, sweeteners, or excipients such as magnesium stearate.
Rarely we may have to use a natural filler but research carefully those we do use, such as organic rice flour.
These efforts are born of our desire for good quality at the best price.
