What is Essential Oil of Chamomile?
Essential oils are extracted from plants. The oil is a concentrated liquid containing aromatic compounds specific to each plant.
There are a few different types of Chamomile Oil, the most popular being Roman, German and Maroc.
Of these, Roman chamomile essential oil is more widely used, possibly due to its aroma, properties and amazing versatility, as it blends well with a very broad range of other essential oils.
In aromatherapy and botanical books Roman Chamomile is commonly known under the Latin name Anthemis noblis, but there is a growing tendency to refer to it as Chamaemelum nobile. Both names are correct and do not refer to another subspecies.
Chamomile Oil properties
Roman Chamomile Oil has a light blue clear appearance with an apple like sweet fragrance and a viscosity similar to water.
It is one of the most gentle of essential oils, ideal for sensitive, red or dry skin.
All our essential oils are 100% steam distilled.
Other extraction methods include solvent and Florasol usage, but we believe steam distillation to be superior as this method keeps the essential oil free from unwanted chemical contamination.
